PRESS RELEASE:

Having visited Bali many times in the past, Los Angeles artists Sandow Birk and Elyse Pignolet are back on the island and are taking part in the Deus artist in residence program. Sandow and Elyse have been spending the last few weeks with us over at “The Temple” twisting up some pieces up in the “Gladak of Creativity”, gracing the wood floors where other artists have paced in the past during there own residence.

There they produced this series of small drawings. A mix of bucolic rural life and the petrol-powered chaos of Bali traffic, and since it has been seven years since they walked and watched the island and all she has to offer, there was no shortage on material for them to find. What once was dirt roads with minimal traffic in Bali, is now a “Cluster Fuck” of black smoke, puffing vehicular hornets nest of two and four wheel creatures…

Sandow and Elyse collaborated on the large drawings in this exhibition – inspired by the images seen on there time in Bali with us and Sandow being the go getter that he is has also done a selection of smaller piece depicting his views and thoughts on “The Motorbike World of Bali”…

So to you reading this, come down from the mountains, cross the paddies, ride, even walk and join us for an evening of art by Sandow Birk and Elyse Pignolet and acoustic live music by Reno (Renprat) Partama who couldn’t get enough of “The Temple” last week and extended his trip, as so many do.
